Customer Guide to Grass
Seed Purchase
Grass Seed
Purchase
The homeowner will
select, purchase, and have seed on site and ready for the overseeding
application. This will result in substantial savings over having Lawn Aeration
and Overseeding Service provide the seed. This also encourages the homeowner to
become knowledgeable in turf grass seed and the characteristcs of the various
cultivars that are available. Generally tall fescue varieties grow best in the
Maryland climate.
Local seed retailers
such as Carroll Gardens, Valley View Farms, Lesco, Southern States, The Mill

Results of
Overseeding Not Guaranteed
This service is the
operation of a commercial slit overseeder machine to introduce grass seed
provided by the customer into the turf. A slit overseeder has a set
of machine powered vertical blades that creates slits in the turf as seed is
drop and brushed into the soil. We pride ourselves on a thorough
distribution of seed with well maintained commercial grade slit seeders. This
method is superior to broadcast seeding that does not assure a high probability
of seed to soil contact.
However, the results
of the overseeding are not guaranteed. After seed is introduced into the turf
there are many variables beyond the control of Lawn Aeration and Overseeding
that can effect the seed’s germination, growth, and endurance. These would
include moisture level and rainfall, weather conditions, soil composition, soil
pH, overall soil chemistry, weed control, cutting practice, wear conditions, and
quality of seed. Lawn Aeration and Overseeding makes no claim to control any of
these variables nor to expertise in horticulture, agronomy, or turf management.
